Lawrence Brent Schwartz, 69, of New Windsor, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born Oct. 17, 1944, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Lawrence Sheridan Schwartz and Gloria Mae Angel Teal, and the stepson of the late William Teal. He was the husband of Sandra Lea "Sandy" Luthardt Schwartz, his wife of 49 years.

He was a 1962 graduate of Catonsville High School. He was employed as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local No. 24 of Baltimore, working throughout the country. In 1962 he apprenticed with the union and remained an active member until his disability retirement in 1999.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. He enjoyed classic cars, history, technology and science.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Sheri Lea Schwartz-Howes and husband Timothy, of Westminster; grandchildren Brittney Lea Barfoot Gootee and Brentt Reicher Barfoot; great-granddaughters Amy, Melanie and Chloe; a sister, Debbie Teal Howard, of Baltimore; and a brother, William S. Schwartz, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service, 3 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, with the Rev. Anne Durboraw, pastor of St. Luke's (Winters) Lutheran Church in New Windsor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148, in memory of his nephew, Willie Brent Schwartz.
