Lela Grace Vaughan, 97, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.

Born July 9, 1916, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late David Rambler and Nancy Jane Huffman Smith. She was the former wife of the late Melvin Leroy Vaughan.

She was a seamstress for 35 years at the Hampstead Clothing Factory. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Manchester. She was one of the initial fundraisers for the former Carroll County General Hospital, now Carroll Hospital Center. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Surviving are daughters Judith L. Dewrell, of Westminster, and Linda G. Stepp and husband David H., of Manchester; a sister, Jean Badger, of California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Hillary Dewrell; and 11 siblings.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover, Pa.
