Leola Kathryn Leister, 96, of Hampstead, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Born Aug. 26, 1915, in Houcksville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mamie E. Reese Baker. She was the wife of Robert Edmund Leister, who died in 1979.

Prior to retirement, she had worked as a bookkeeper for a trucking firm. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Wesley United Methodist Women and, years ago, played the piano in the choir.

Surviving are nieces Peggy Kelley, of Glen Arm, and Brenda Sue Kennedy, of Westminster; a nephew, H. Morton Baker Jr., of Pylesville; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Baker, of Monkton.

She was predeceased by brothers Norville E. Baker, H. Morton Baker Sr. and Irving R. Baker.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Friday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Curtis Ehrgott and the Rev. Dr. Stanley Harrell officiating. Interment will be in Wesley United Methodist Cemetery in Hampstead.
