Lester E. Luckenbaugh, 95, of York, Pa., died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at York Hospital.

Born May 30, 1917, on his family farm in Spring Grove, Pa., he was the son of the late William Luckenbaugh and Mabel Auchey Luckenbaugh. He was the husband of Minerva I. Stambaugh Luckenbaugh, who died March 20, 2013.

He was a dairy farmer all of his life on the family farm "Leserva Farm" on Stoverstown Road. He also worked as a seed corn salesman for DeKalb Company and enjoyed showing cows and rabbits at various fairs. After retiring, he and his wife made and sold crafts at various locations.

He was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lischey's United Church of Christ in Spring Grove, where he sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Holstein Association and the Spring Grove Lions Club, where he was a past president and Melvin Jones Award recipient. He also served 50 years as a judge of elections for North Codorus Township.

Surviving are son Richard E. Luckenbaugh and wife Barbara, of Westminster; daughter Adrienne Messinger and husband Larry, of Spring Grove; grandchildren Jayson Luckenbaugh and wife Lynne, Barbara Gieselman and husband Mark, Michael Messinger, and Melinda Burnham and husband Brad; great-grandchildren Brian, Justin, Jessica, Bryan, Katelynne and Luke; an aunt, Viola Luckenbaugh; and nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by a son, Marvin L. Luckenbaugh; and a sister, Romaine Miller.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lischey's United Church of Christ, 5671 Lischey's Church Road, Spring Grove.

Following cremation, a memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Sarah Rentzel Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Peter Lischey's United Church of Christ, 5671 Lischey's Church Road, Spring Grove, PA 17362.
