Lester Vernon "Junie" Myers, Jr., 68, of Manchester passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Dove House in Westminster. Born May 18, 1947 in Baltimore, he was the son of Violet Myers Bowman and the late Lester Vernon Myers, Sr. He was the husband of Darlene Michelle Myers (nee Hall), his wife of 43 years. Mr. Myers was a member of Westminster Baptist Church and was a custodian for the Spring Garden Elementary School. Before working at the school, he had been employed as a manager for Westminster Auto Glass for over 30 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, with a tour in Vietnam. He was a 1966 graduate of Westminster High School. He was a life member of the VFW, Post 467 and a former member of the Hampstead American Legion. He was also affectionately known as "Mr. Fix It" as there was not a thing he could not fix. He was often around the neighborhood helping out anyone who was in need of assistance. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, watching NASCAR, eating, especially eating out, and most of all spending time with his family. His passion for guiding young minds and working with children kept him on the go with his job at the elementary school, where he will be missed. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughters Terri Wentz and Jean Sweeney and husband Leaveil; his grandchildren Courtney, Kayla, and Austin; his great-grandson Caden; his siblings Linda Fitzpatrick and husband Lee, Libby Morris and husband Huck, Patti Creager, and Jamie Myers; his brother-in-law Russell Fleming; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his sister Martha Fleming and his step father Harry Bowman. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2015 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester (21102) and 10 a.m. until time of funeral service, 11 a.m. Saturday at the Westminster Baptist Church, 354 Crest Lane (21157) with his pastor the Rev. Larry Steen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
