Lillian Catherine (Schmitt) Nemec, 94, of Westminster, and formerly of Parkville, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Sun Valley Assisted Living Center in Westminster. Lillian was born on December 16, 1922 in Baltimore and was the daughter of the late Frank Anthony and Margaret (Getz) Schmitt. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton Frank Nemec, who predeceased her on December 5, 1980. Lillian attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Baltimore until the 7th grade, when she left school to help support her family, by doing tasks such as scrubbing marble steps for 25 cents. Lillian had several interesting jobs throughout her life. During the war in 1943 she operated a crane for Rustless Iron and Steel Company, and later worked at Gleneagles Coat Factory manufacturing rain coats. She was also a homemaker. Lillian was a devout member of St. John Catholic Church and a member of Ranger Rosaries. She volunteered her time at Meals on Wheels. Above all she loved to get her family together to celebrate any occasion with them. She was happiest when cooking dinner and bringing everyone together. Surviving her is son and daughter-in-law Frank and Shelby Nemec of Aberdeen, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Charles Witte of Westminster; sister-in-law Joan Schmitt of Lutherville; granddaughters and spouses Jillian Nemec, Lorien and Clifton Butler, Amy Nemec, Christine and Jonathan Hill, Diane Witte; great-grandchildren Koa Wolfe, Lillian and Lucas Hill, Kyra and Aren Butler; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 brothers and 1 sister: Frederick, Hank, George, and Charles Schmitt and Rose Wienholt. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Baltimore.
