Lillian D. Rodgers, 87, of Littlestown, Pa., died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at home.

Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert H. Sr. and Jane Smith Dittmer. She was the wife of Harold R. Rodgers, who died Nov. 20, 2006.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education from Lamar University and received her master's in education from the University of Maryland. She taught at Taneytown High School for many years and later was a supervisor of English and foreign language for the Carroll County School System until her retirement.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Surviving are children Robert B. Rodgers, of Rockville, and Jeane R. New, of Florence, S.C.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Wilbert H. Dittmer Jr.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover, Pa.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover.
