Lillian K. Duden passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018 in her home at Charlestown Retirement Village in Catonsville, Maryland. Born Lillian Mae Kepner on April 21, 1928 to Rev. I. Wilson Kepner. D.D. and Lottie (Brosius) Kepner, Lillian grew up in and around her father's parsonage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, Maryland. During her childhood, Lillian enjoyed accompanying Rev. Dr. Kepner when he led his congregants on pilgrimages to Mexico, Canada, and many other places. Lillian led these trips during summers in college. Lillian graduated from Eastern High School and Susquehanna University. On June 24, 1950, Lillian married Jack Larrimore and together they had two sons. They traveled with the U.S. Agency for International Development to Thailand from 1957-1959 and to Korea from 1959-1962. Upon returning to the States, they lived in Anne Arundel County and then Howard County, Maryland. Lillian's marriage to Jack ended in divorce in 1964 and Lillian moved to Annapolis. Lillian began her career as a teacher and worked at Laurel High School, Annapolis High School, and the Annapolis Learning Center. Later, Lillian was a real estate agent with Annapolis Properties and, eventually, a party facilitator at the William Paca House in Annapolis. On March 20, 1967, Lillian married H. Richard Duden, Jr. of Annapolis, who had been widowed in 1964. Lillian and Dick made their home and raised their blended family in Annapolis. Dick pre-deceased Lillian in 2013 after 44 years of marriage. Lillian was an avid reader and thespian. In Korea, Lillian hosted a radio show for military families. She did television commercials in Baltimore, as well as starring in several musical comedies in community theater in Annapolis, including Boyfriend, Guys and Dolls, South Pacific, and Hello Dolly. During her later years, Lillian enjoyed courses offered at the Arnold Senior Center. Lillian is survived by two sons, Judson Kepner Larrimore (Sharon) of Westminster and Jason Larrimore Duden (Catherine) of Edgewater, and by three step-children, Judy Hall (Fred) of Severna Park, Patti Hopkins (Tom) of West River, and H. Richard Duden, III (Nancy) of Annapolis. In addition, Lillian is survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at the home of Dick and Nancy Duden, 1414 Hunting Wood Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21403 on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
