Lillian Weed Obituary

Lillian Grace Hill Weed, 81, of Finksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Howard County.

Born March 13, 1932, in Colorado, she was the youngest of four children born to the late Clarence and Mabel Hill. She was the wife of Nicholas Ray Weed.

She moved to Maryland with her daughter in 1953. She worked in retail sales, then as a bank teller and finally as an assistant branch manager. She retired in 1972, upon her diagnosis of breast cancer. After recovery, she became a caregiver for several family members suffering from serious illnesses and cancer.

She enjoyed family time, playing cards, doing handwork and traveling. She enjoyed roller skating as a young girl and continued to skate with her grandson later in life. She volunteered in Carroll County kindergarten classes where she enjoyed making things for teachers and working with children.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter Lillian Rae Weed Leeds and husband Lawrence Ray Leeds, of Finksburg; a grandson, Andrew Michael Leeds, of Finksburg; a sister, Mildred Coster, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and brother Kenneth Hill and wife Shirley, of Fruita, Colo.

She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Hill.

A memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs.

Mrs. Weed was a nice and kind woman. We were neighbors in Smallwood. Enjoyed sledding down their hill! May her memories bring you smiles everyday! Thinking of you, Lisa Buckingham Foreman and George Buckingham
