Linda Lee Joy, 65, of Union Bridge, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster, after an extended illness.

Born Aug. 15, 1947, in Gettysburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Thomas Grossnickle and Clara Jane Keeney Grossnickle. She was the wife of Charles Elwood "Chuck" Joy, who died in 2009.

She was a 1965 graduate of Linganore High School and remained active in their Alumni Association. She was formerly employed for 11 years with the Frederick County government in the permits department.

She enjoyed swimming with her daughters, traveling on vacations, cooking, was an avid Ravens fan, and enjoyed time with her dogs, Rascal, Spanky and Bella.

Surviving are daughters Stacy Lynn Joy and Amanda Elizabeth Joy, both of Union Bridge; a sister, Susan Hoff and companion John Gisiner, of Westminster; a brother-in-law, James Hoff, of Westminster; nephew George R. Hoff and companion Lisa Jordan, of Westminster; a great-nephew, Danny Hoff; a great-niece, Natalie Hoff; and friends Linda and Jeff Koontz and daughters, Melissa and Krystal.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 adn 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Cline, pastor of Libertytown-Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery, near Union Bridge.
