Linda R. Mahin, 69, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center, from complications related to Primary Peritoneal Cancer.

Born March 19, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Charles Boyd Mahin and Wanda Fern Spray Mahin. She was the wife of Roger Boundy, her husband of 39 years.

She was raised in Hinsdale, Illinois.

She received her undergraduate degree in 1973 from North Central College in Naperville, Ill. She was awarded her doctorate in English from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1976 and a Masters of Business from the University of Baltimore in 1983. She was a professor emerita in English from Towson University, beginning her career in 1976 and retiring in 2010. She was the winner of a Shriver Foundation Grant for "service learning," and presented numerous papers at the Association of Business Communication and Conference on College Composition and Communication annual meetings.

She was a long-time member of the Church of the Ascension in Westminster, serving as a lector, chalicist, and lay Eucharistic visitor. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Bond's Meadow, acting as a Vocational Service Lane Chair for several years, in addition to her commitment to the 4-Way Test Speech Contest and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. She was also named the Paul Harris Fellow in 2011.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and retreats with her husband to the mountains of North Carolina.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter and son-in-law Amy M. and Lt. Commander Christopher W. Gavin, of Leonardtown; son and fiancé Christopher M. Boundy and Ellen O'Neal, of Boston, Mass.; brother and sister-in-law Doug and Linda Mahin, of Asheville, N.C.; and grandsons Jacob and Evan Gavin, of Leonardtown.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Ascension, 23 N. Court St., Westminster, with the Rev Sam Edelman and the Rev. Barbara Sears officiating. Inurnment will follow in Westminster Cemetery.
