Linda Sue Duncan, age 61 of Summerfield, FL, and formerly of Sykesville, died Friday, December 9, 2016 at Promise Hospital of Florida at The Villages. Born October 16, 1955 in Sandy Spring, she was the daughter of Lawrence B. Duncan of Summerfield, FL, and the late Betty Lea Shipley Duncan. She taught pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade for over 36 years. She spent 20 years teaching in the Baltimore City Public School System and 16 years teaching in the Lake County School System, in Florida. While there, she was recognized twice as Teacher of the Year in 2004 and 2008. Her kindness was felt by all and she devoted her life to her family and friends, her students, and her pets. Surviving in addition to her father are sister and brother-in-law Juanita and Bryan Waltz of Haymarket, VA, niece Jennifer Heilman and her husband Brent, nephew Christopher Waltz, and great-nephew and niece Blake and Avery Heilman, all of Haymarket ,VA as well. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment in Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ASPCA at www.ASPCA.org/donate or No Kid Hungry at nokidhungry.org.
