Lois (Shriner) Knights of Hanover, formerly of Carroll County went home to be with The Lord on Monday, August 8, 2016 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late James C. Knights, Sr. Born July 20, 1934 in Uniontown, MD, she was a daughter of the late P. Shreeve and Helen Pauline (Stonesifer) Shriner Gladfelter, and her late step-father Charles Gladfelter. A dedicated educator, Lois was a teacher at Manchester Elementary School for over 30 years, as well as a team leader for the Carroll County Board of Education. She was also a lifelong member and back-up organist at Calvary Bible Church, as well as a Sunday School teacher and organist at First Baptist Church. Lois loved to travel and made many fond memories with her family, traveling and camping across the United States and Canada. These trips also allowed her gain first-hand knowledge and experience of the topics she taught to her students, which she considered very important as a teacher. Lois is survived by her son, Craig Knights and his fiancé Judith Forty Pinero of Hanover; her daughter, Melanie Landis and her husband Daniel of York; 2 grandsons: Jacob and Joseph Landis of York; 1 sister: Ruth Morris of New Oxford, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition to her parents and her husband James, Lois was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, J. Thomas and James Shriner. A service to celebrate Lois's life will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Ave., Hanover, PA with Pastor Michael Osladil and Pastor Dan Delloso officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Thursdayfrom 10am until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
