Lois Katherene Simering (nee Smith), 85, of Westminster, formerly of Halethorpe, Baltimore County, died October 27, 2016. Born July 8, 1931, in Baltimore, the daughter of George W. Smith, Sr. and Ava N. Smith and step-daughter of Grace M. Smith (all deceased). She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and retired from Mercy Medical Center in 1993. She enjoyed traveling, reading, needlework and friends. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law William V. Simering, III and Betsy L. Simering of Ruther Glen, VA; daughters L. Kathleen Hoffhiens of Rochester Hills, MI, Laura K. and Roy G. Dixon of Marriottsville, and Lynne K. and J. Kenneth Hasenei, Jr. of Westminster; grandchildren, Signe K. Simering, Laura K. Hoffhiens, Brian M. Hoffhiens, Karen N. Digman, Daniel K. Dudley, Timothy P. Dudley, Michael V. Dudley, Andrew P. Munds, Brian Naff, Aaron M. Hasenei, Zachary L. Hasenei, and Noah S. Hasenei; and sister and brother-in-law Audrey M. and Jeffrey H. Bailey. She was predeceased by her son, Warren V. Simering and her brother George W. Smith, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, MD. Interment, at a later date, will be private. In lieu of other memorial gifts, contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church Capital Campaign or the Humane Society of Carroll County.
