Lorraine O'Brien of Hamilton, MT, formerly of Westminster, MD died December 12, 2015 in Hamilton. Born October 31, 1927, in Boston, NY, she was the daughter of the late John Bednarski and Anna Rapicz and was the youngest of twelve children. She was married to the late Joseph O'Brien for 52 years, and as she often said "they travelled the world." She missed him every day since his death in 2004. Lorraine believed in service to her family, friends, her church and her community. She was a wonderful nurse. When she walked out of her patient's room, they were clean and comfortable with a smile on their face. She found great comfort in her faith and shared that with her work as a Eucharistic minister, hospice volunteer, missionary, and teacher. Lorraine was an accomplished seamstress, baker, and cook. She loved music, sang in the choir and played the organ. She struggled with dementia in the last years of her life and handled these difficult years with grace and humor. Lorraine was proud of her kids and grandkids. She left a legacy of a life fully lived and hoped the same for her family. She is survived by one sister, Julia Jackowski of Ann Arbor, MI, children, Mo O'Brien of Hamilton, MT; Tim O'Brien of Sunnyvale, CA; Peggy and Ed Haser of Sykesville, MD; Ellen and Joe Holland of Hamilton, MT; Mark O'Brien of Tuscon, AZ; grandchildren, Phoebe, Amelia, Aaron, Chelsea, Colin, Kyle and Bryan. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26 at 8 am at St. John Catholic Church in Westminster. Graveside services will follow at 9 am at Meadow Branch Cemetery, Westminster, MD.
