Louis Earnest Potter, 93, of Taylorsville, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at his home. Born on January 26, 1922 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Henry and Christina Eva (Dolle) Potter. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Middlecoff) Potter, his wife of 72 years. He was a graduate of Catonsville high School, class of 1940. He earned his B.S. Degree in 1959 from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Louis was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from September 1943 to December 1945 as a radio technician. He was an Electrical Engineer at RCA in New Jersey and Lancaster PA, retiring in 1982. Since relocating to Taylorsville in 1994 he has been in fellowship with Calvary Baptist Church. He was a very practical man with wide interests, delighting in nature and in growing all kinds of flowers, vegetables and trees, all with great success. He also enjoyed the challenges of fixing all sorts of machinery, engines, motors, radios, clocks and watches, and earned the reputation of being able to fix anything. Music was another joy in his life, especially Gospel music. Until recently he sang with his heart to the glory of God. The loss of his singing voice was a big disappointment to him. Surviving him in addition to his wife are daughters Mary Louise Weller of Kingston Beach Tasmania, Australia, Barbara Lee Baldwin of Taneytown, Rose Marie Nelson of Mt. Holly, NJ and Carol Christine Parker of Taylorsville; also 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his five older brothers and his older sister. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist church, 3200 Ridge Rd., Westminster, with Pastor Tim Leaman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church before the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg. Arrangements by PRITTS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Memorial contributions may be made to Alpha Pregnancy Center, 301 Main St., #1B, Reisterstown, MD 21136 or Carroll Hospice 292 Stoner Ave. Westminster, MD 21157, or Calvary Baptist Church, 3200 Ridge Rd., Westminster, MD 21157.
