Louis Ronald Beares, 74, of Marriottsville, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born May 23, 1938, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Harry Vineyard and Elva Caroline Marley Beares. He was the husband of Stephanie M. Jaco Beares, his wife of more than 52 years.

He retired from the Baltimore City Police Department, Southwest District in 1993 after 32 years of service. He served in the Army. He also served in the Army Reserve for 27 years. He enjoyed trips to casinos, Chincoteague, Va., and spending time with family and friends. He was an animal lover.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and son-in-law Deborah Beares, of Reisterstown, Tina and Bernard Wolford, of Hampstead, and Laura Danielle, of Bel Air; and grandchildren Bernard Louis Wolford, Kamryn Hailey Wolford and Allison Marie Wolford.

He was predeceased by a sister, Joan E. Bowen, who died in 1992.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
