Loy King Shipley, age 89 of Sykesville, passed away at home on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Born September 20, 1927 in Pikesville, he was the son of the late Webster E. Shipley and the late Lillian (nee King) Shipley. He was the husband of Lois Mae Bruner Shipley of Sykesville, his wife of 67 years. He had served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Loy was an electrical linesman for the federal government for over 30 years. He carried the electrical license for London Fog in Eldersburg. He was an avid train lover. He enjoyed R.V. camping, driving, and loved spending time with friends and family. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Ronald Loy Shipley and his wife Connie of Lonaconing, and James Gregory Shipley of Ocean City, daughter Nanci Shipley Baker and her husband Patrick of Berkley Springs, WV, sister Nancy L. Fishpaw of Ruxton, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
