YORK, PA Lucille E. Kemper, 93, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Normandie Ridge in York. She was the wife of the late Rev. Philip J. Kemper, who she married on July 23, 1945. A public viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, at Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community Multi-purpose Room, 1700 Normandie Drive, York. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 N. Second Street, New Freedom. Interment will follow in New Freedom Cemetery. Officaiting will be the Rev. David Brinker and the Rev. Dennis McCleary. Lucille was born on April 15, 1922 in Carbondale, Pa., the daughter of the late Myrl Wallace Burdick and Alice Henrietta (Dietz) Burdick. Lucille is formerly of Carroll and Baltimore Counties in Maryland. She is a graduate of Columbia Bible College in Columbia, S.C. and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was an Elementary School Media Specialist in Carroll Co., Md., retiring in 1982 after 16 years of service. She is a current member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Pylesville, Md. She is survived by four daughters, Ruth K. Michael and husband, Gene of Pueblo, Colo., Mary K. Gearhart and husband, Henry of Blakeslee, Pa., Ann L. Kemper of York, Pa. and Catherine K. Fronck of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four granddaughters; one step-grandson; five great-granddaughters; one sister, Mildred B. Curry of York; and one brother, Martin M. Burdick of Littleton, Colo. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marian B. Petro. Memorial contributions may be made to Normandie Ridge Benevolent Care Fund, 1700 Normandie Drive, York, PA 17408. J.J.
