Margaret Ann Slack, 66, of Georgetown, Del., died Friday, March 14, 2014, at home.

Born April 2, 1947, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Edith E. Imhoff Carr. She was the wife of the late Earl Slack Jr.

She was a graduate of the Seton High School in Baltimore. She retired in 2002 after 39 years of service as a social insurance specialist for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn. She then relocated from Carroll County to Georgetown. She enjoyed her time with the SSA, especially the opportunities to travel abroad during her career.

She enjoyed her summers at the beach, reading and crocheting, where she would make afghans for the Children of Family 1st of Georgetown. For many years she also spent her time mentoring at Georgetown Elementary.

She especially enjoyed spending time camping and fishing with her late husband and family. She also toured the United States on motorcycle with her husband.

Surviving are a sister, Mary McCarty, of Georgetown; a stepson, Eric L. Slack, of New Windsor; nephews John McCarty, of Georgetown, and Jeremiah Slack, of Owings Mills; aunt and uncle Patricia and Alfred Nulph, of Chester; a mother-in-law, Thekla Slack, of Bel Air; brothers-in-law Paul Slack, of Clarksville, Ray Shepherd, of Baltimore, and Timothy McCarty, of Ellicott City; a sister-in-law, Shari Pratt, of Clarksville; and numerous cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine M. Shepherd.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of memorial service, 3 p.m. March 21, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, Del. Interment is private.
