Margaret Ann Johnson Williams, 80, of Brant Lake, N.Y., died Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Ellicott City.

Born Aug. 5, 1931, in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of the late Harvey C. Johnson and Arlene L. Maurer Schroeder. She was the wife of the late Leo C. Williams Jr.

She spent many summers on her grandparent's farm in Iowa. After graduating from high school she began nursing studies at Carthage College in Carthage, Ill. She realized that she wanted to pursue something different and selected to become a stewardess for United Airlines. She enjoyed her job with United, which led her to Chicago, Ill. and La Canada, Calif. After living in California, which she especially enjoyed, she moved to Bergen County, N.J. She spent several years in New Jersey before moving to Brant Lake with her husband and children.

Interested in farming and shepherding since her youth, she started a small sheep farm and enjoyed shearing the wool and spinning it into yarn. She taught herself sheep husbandry and the art of canning vegetables and making applesauce and pickles from her garden.

She had many jobs throughout her life and completed her associate degree at night, graduating with honors while working and raising her children. In addition to being a stewardess, she worked as a credit manager for Montgomery Wards, a saleswoman for The Tanning Hut and a home health aide in Warren County and on the Eastern Shore.

She enjoyed books of all genres, knitting luxurious hand-knits, tending her flower gardens and listening to music. She would spend hours at the perfume counter or shopping at TJ Maxx and she also enjoyed sewing, tennis, playing Mahjong on her laptop and talking on the phone.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, singing to them and giving them "goodies" when their parents weren't looking. She also enjoyed helping people.

Surviving are children and spouses Kathrine and Serdar Manizade, Elizabeth Krebs, Mark and Marielena Krebs, David Krebs, Mimi Krebs, Anna and Martin Roesch, and Christopher and Carrie Williams; a stepson, John Williams; sisters and brothers-in-law Karen and Lawrence O'Brien, and Cynthia and Philip Schaffner; brother and sister-in-law Frederick Jr. and Pauline Schroeder; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a niece and nephew; and five step-grandchildren.
