Margaret L. Arnold, 78, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Gettysburg, Pa., died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.

Born Aug. 20, 1935, in Pasadena, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Florence Germac Atkins. She was the wife of David E. Arnold, who died June 28, 2001.

She enjoyed raising her children as well as helping others. Her home was opened to many children over the years who needed foster care; they had lengths of stay anywhere from one day to permanently, becoming part of the family. She also liked sewing, bingo and doing various crafts.

Surviving are sons Charles Arnold, of Virginia Beach, Va., Douglas, Richard and Ronald Arnold, all of Hanover, Michael Arnold, of New Oxford, Pa., and Jason Arnold, of Biglerville, Pa.; daughters Patricia Puciato, of Orrtanna, Pa., Emily Pearce, of Aspers, Pa., and Nicole Casanova, of Biglerville; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Atkins; and sisters Evelyn Clough and Florence Heffington.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Arnold; a son, David Arnold Jr.; brothers Charles Atkins, Walter Atkins, Donald Atkins and Carl Atkins; and sisters Dorothy Saunders, Doris Myers, Ethel Miller, Catherine Gaither and Eleanor Smith.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Parr officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa.
