Margaret Laura Ebeling, 89, of Sandgates, St. Mary's County, formerly of Carroll County, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at home. She was the wife of the late Delbert Ebeling.
Born May 6, 1923, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Carrie Gandee and James Holt.
She had worked as a soda jerk in Washington, D.C., at Maryland Cup in Owings Mills, and at the Springfield State Hospital in Sykesville.
Surviving are daughters JoAnn Bryant, of Mechanicsville, and Jean Ebeling, of Mechanicsville; son and daughter-in-law James and Norma, of Tonapah, Nev.; brother and sister-in-law Art and Nan Holt, of Abilene, Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Holt, of State College, Pa.; grandchildren and spouses Dennis and Ann Bryant, of Smyrna, Tenn., James and Donna Bryant, of Clarksville, Tenn., Stephen and Julie Bryant, and Toni and Rob Vargo, all of Mechanicsville, Jake Kitzmiller, of Longview, Texas, Dusty and Lorene Kitzmiller, of Stafford, Va., James and Erikka, of Lansdale, Pa., Kelly and Brian LaHair, of Randallstown, Kim Ross, of Jacksonville, Fla., Andrew Cox, of Christiansburg, Va., Daniel Ebeling, of Fallon, Nev., Barry and Corrie Ebeling, of Tonapah, Nev., and James and Christine Ebeling, of Fallon, Nev.; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Cox; a son-in-law, Laudie Cox; brothers Paul, Gene, and Leon Holt; a brother-in-law, Herman Ebeling; and a nephew David Ebeling.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Springfield Cemetery in Sykesville.
