Margaret Louisa Myers, 96, of West Yarmouth, MA (and formerly of Briarcliff Manor, NY and Carroll County, MD) died peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA, following a brief illness and surrounded by family. Born June 15, 1921 in Frizzelburg, MD, she was the daughter of Norman Theodore Myers and Sarah Margaret (Yingling) Myers. She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse and following graduation from high school in Taneytown, MD she attended Strayer Business School in Philadelphia, PA. She later joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. where she worked as a radiotelephone operator in classified communications during WW II. On October 25, 1947, she married Arthur K. ("Sparky") Myers, also of Frizzelburg, MD and later accompanied him to Geneva, Switzerland where they lived from 1949 - 1955. Upon returning to the United States the couple resided in Briarcliff Manor, NY for more than 56 years. Devoted to her family and adored by four generations of children and grandchildren, Louisa travelled five continents and was a regular volunteer for a variety of community organizations. She found great joy in reading and was an accomplished cook, seamstress, bridge player, gardener, and an avid baseball fan. She also was an active member of P.E.O., the Briarcliff Manor Garden Club, and The Briarcliff Congregational Church (BCC). Louisa was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and her five brothers - Homer, Donald, Norman Jr., Thomas ("Irvin") and Eddie Myers. She is survived by a sister, LaDonna Smith, of Schertz, TX, sons William (Barbara) Myers of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Tom (Shannan) Myers of West Yarmouth, MA, daughter Carol (Rick) Newman of West Linn, OR and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Louisa's life will be held on May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at BCC. Gifts in remembrance of Louisa may be made to The Briarcliff Congregational Church, 30 S. State Road, P.O. Box 290, Briarcliff Manor, NY. (Arrangements were handled by Morris, O'Connor and Blute Funeral Home, South Yarmouth, MA.)
