Margaret Eloise Strine, 87, of Union Bridge, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Carroll Hospice Dove House, following a brief illness. Born October 21, 1927 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Zenora Hawk Engle. She was raised by foster parents, S. Delp and Ella Hahn Yingling. She was the wife of Olin M. Strine, who predeceased her in 1994. Mrs. Strine was a 1944 graduate of Walkersville High School and a graduate of Miss Willard's Secretarial School of Frederick. She was formerly employed as a secretary for Donald Six Lumber and Feed, and then with Union Bridge Clothing Company and H.L. Hartz. She was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir director, member of United Methodist Women, and served on numerous committees. She enjoyed serving her church, cooking for and spending time with her family. Surviving are daughter, Darlene A. Harris and husband, James of Union Bridge; twin sons, Daryl L. Strine and wife, Susanne of Westminster and Dennis L. Strine and wife, Vicky of Pelzer, SC; grandchildren, Christopher Harris and wife, Tracy, Vincent Strine, and Katie Beth Maddox and husband, Rusty; great-grandchildren, Sierra and Shannyn Harris, Daisy and Grant Strine, and Kaelyn Maddox; nephew, John Diehl and wife, Anna; special friends, Shirley and Gene Metz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge. Rev. Bill Warehime, retired pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Eldersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
