Margarette Loretta Cole, 81, of Taneytown, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Golden Living Nursing Center in Westminster.

Born July 8, 1932, in Woodlawn, she was the daughter of the late James and Elsie Dyke Martin. She was the wife of the late George Robert Cole, her husband of almost 60 years.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and playing cards.

Surviving are daughters Katherine Caples and husband Dennis, of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, and Gail Cole, of Inwood, West Virginia; sons George Cole and wife Betsy, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, James Cole and wife Carol, of Littlestown, Charles Cole and wife Dr. Salome Hawkins-Cole, of Westminster, John Cole and wife Belinda, of Taneytown, Phil Cole and wife Melinda, of Gettysburg, Michael Cole and wife Jerrie, of Taneytown, and Steven Cole, of Hagerstown; sister Edith Fick and husband Tom, of Westminster; brothers James Martin and wife Delores, of Finksburg, William "Billy" Martin and wife Patty, of Westminster, and Arthur Martin and wife Brenda, of Martinsburg, West Virginia; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters Marie Snyder, Katherine Morris and Rosie Golden; and brothers John, Jerry, Leo and Bobby Martin.

A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at the family farm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Arc of Washington County, 820 Florida Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements are by Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.
