Margel Maurice Riegel, 83, of Finksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson.

Born May 3, 1930, in Griffin, Ga., he was the son of the late Annie Brain Riegel and the Rev. Paul Riegel. He was the husband of Shirley J. Louke Riegel, his wife of 59 years.

He was raised in Randolph County, W.Va., and was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War and in Okinawa. He retired from Continental Can Co. after 32 years as an inspector. He was a member of the North Carroll Assembly of God and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, gardening, working on cars, singing and playing the guitar.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Keith Riegel and wife Sonnie, of Hampstead; daughters Debra Mayberry and husband Bob, Diane Klaverweiden and husband Glenn, and Karen Kruger, all of Hampstead; brothers Eldon and Macil "Wayne" Riegel, both of West Virginia; and grandchildren Heather and Brian Mayberry, Julie and David Harvey, Jordan, Justin and Jenna Klaverweiden, and Sarah and Maddi Riegel.

He was predeceased by brothers the Rev. Paul Riegel and Emerson Riegel.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
