Marian Georgia Gassman, 87, of Westminster, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Westminster.

Born on May 17, 1925, in Patapsco, she was the daughter of the late John William and Liza Emma Arnold Flater. She was the wife of the late Joseph Porterfield Gassman, who died March 15, 1993.

She was a Westminster High School graduate and worked at Congoleum for 21 months before she was married. She was a member of Patpsco United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary-Ellen Barnes, of Westminster, daughters and sons-in-law Bette and Ty Ford, of Baltimore, and Shirley and Bob Leatherman, of Westminster; a sister, Adele Gray, of Finksburg, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers John A. and James Flater and sisters Lida Anna Walsh and Ellen Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lou Piel officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
