On September 25, 2016, with her family around her, Marion passed out of this life. She was a few months shy of 87 years of age. Marion was born December 19, 1929 in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She was the eldest daughter of William Forshay and Marion Grace Halsted. She was raised in Ramsey, New Jersey until relocating to Maryland in 1960. She was twice married and twice divorced. Her husbands were Harold Murken, also a resident of Ramsey, and Gustav K. Durholz of Patterson, New Jersey. Marion and her family moved to Eldersburg, Maryland where she was a long time resident. Marion was for years one of the top breeders of collies in the United States, producing 63 Champions. She became involved with Shetland Sheepdogs when the larger collies became difficult for her to manage. She was successful with Shelties as well, with a number of Sheltie Champions to her credit. Marion was an American Kennel Club judge of both Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs and belonged to several local dog clubs. From childhood, Marion loved animals. She was also fond of gardening and the study of wildlife. She was the member of the Seniors Nature Club in Carroll County. Throughout her life she was an avid reader. During her lifetime, she amassed a large collection of books about dogs which complimented her considerable expertise about dog management, health, showing and breeding. She mentored many new to the world of dog showing and took special care to educate on dog care and training those individuals who purchased puppies from Jancada Kennels. Marion is survived by her four children: Catherine Sheppard, Daniel Durholz (Marlene); Janet Ridge (Michael) and Jill White, and four grandchildren: Matthew Eberwein (Christina); Gregory (Ann); Elise; and Lynn (Robert). Marion also was thrilled see come into her life five great-grandchildren: Jacob; William; Gemma; Zachary; and Daniel. Marion's only sibling, Margaret (Halsted) Jackman predeceased her. A memorial service in her honor will be held 12:00 noon, November 5, 1016 in the Fellowship Hall of the All Saints Lutheran Church at US 301 and Mt. Oak Road in Bowie, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Habitat for Humanity. Condolences may be made by card at 12300 Shadow Lane, Bowie, MD 20715
