Martha Jane Hostenske, 97, of Eldersburg, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Encore at Turf Valley in Ellicott City.

Born Feb. 1, 1916, in Punxsutawney, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Sivanich Meko. She was the wife of Joseph George Hostenske, who died in 1999.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg. She had also been a member at St. Brunos Catholic Church in Greensburg, Pa., and at St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Punxsutawney.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Linda and Dirk Nordling, of Sykesville; a brother, Michael Pete Meko, of Punxsutawney; sisters Helen Skarbek, of Reynoldsville, Pa., and Kay Gulish, of North Wales, Pa.; and grandchildren Geoffrey Michael Nordling, of Pensacola, Fla., and Jennifer Nordling Taylor and husband Matthew Taylor, of Ellicott City.

She was predeceased by siblings Ted Meko and Irene Baranick.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg.
