Martin C. Lobert, 91, formerly of Howard and Carroll counties, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2013, in Ridgeland, Miss.

He was born in Elkton, Mich. He was the husband of Sarah Lobert.

He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II. After completing his studies at Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan, he became a high school teacher, first in Oscoda, Mich., and later in Elkton and Essexville, Mich., where he retired in 1988. He worked briefly as a commissioner in Ellicott City. He moved to his current home in Ridgeland in 2011.

He was of the Catholic faith and was active in local parishes in Pigeon, Mich., Ellicott City and Eldersburg. He was also a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church in Jackson, Miss.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Richard, Patrick, Sharon and Larry Lobert; grandchildren Joshua, Alex, Grant and Chloe Lobert; stepchildren Michael, Stephen, Mark and Paul Onheiser, and Karen Dell; 10 step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg.
