Mary Alice Shimoda, 81, of Fort Collins, Colorado died peacefully on June 28, 2014 at home. She was born February 20, 1933 in Elkhorn, WI to Adrian and Mary Ague. Mary grew up there, graduated from college in Chicago, IL, moved to Fort Collins and worked at the Student Health Center, Colorado A & M (Colorado State University). Mary married Wilbert Shimoda on June 11, 1954 and she was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church where she was an avid church worker. Mary was a certified instructor and a judge in the art of BUNKA, Japanese Embroidery. She taught the art and had completed numerous pictures. Mary is survived by her husband, Wilbert. Sons, Todd and wife Linda Shimoda of Upland, CA, Matthew and wife Donna Shimoda of Westminster, MD, and Gregory Shimoda of Orlando, FL. Grandchildren, Jessica Shimoda-Burgess & husband Steven, of Colorado Springs, CO, Adam Shimoda & wife Brittany of Gaithersburg, MD, and Alison Shimoda of Westminster, MD. She was the proud Great-Grandmother of Colton Burgess. Mary is also survived by two sisters, Betsy Dade and husband Jerry of Glen Dora, CA and Carolyn Bell and husband Gary of Nixa, MO. A Memorial Service will be held on July 8, 2014, 11:00 AM at Saint John's Lutheran Church, 305 East Elizabeth St., Fort Collins, Colorado 80524. Mary's ashes will be interred in the Ague Family Cemetery, Elkhorn, WI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary's memory to Saint John's Foundation and Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, Colorado, 80525.
