Mary Beatrice Hale, 92, of Manchester, MD passed away on August 14, 2016 at the Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA. Born April 28, 1924 in Upperco, MD, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Mary (Fishpaw) Shaffer, and the wife of the late Charles M. Hale who passed in 1973. She was a life member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and the ladies aid society of Mt. Zion. She retired from Carroll County General Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading, but she was happiest spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Surviving are her four daughters: Beverly E. Tracey and husband Herbert of Manchester, MD, Carol A. Brown and husband Gordon of Upperco, MD, Jean Price and husband Gary of Hampstead, MD, Joan R. Fuhrman of Hampstead, MD; son, Charles M. Hale, Jr. and wife Gwen of Spring Grove, PA; sister, Florence V. Shaffer of Hampstead, MD; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead, MD. A service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 10:00 am at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 3800 Black Rock Road, Upperco, MD, with Rev. John Mayden and Rev. Jennifer Kokoski officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, PO Box 32, Upperco, MD 21155.
