Peggy Murphy, 91 of Finksburg, passed away in her home after an extended illness, Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Born November 12, 1925 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Margaret B. Clark and the wife of the late Lawrence C. "Larry" Murphy. Jr. Peggy attended Cathedral School in Baltimore and graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame (IND). She worked several jobs, most recently as the housekeeper at St. John Parish Center in Westminster, MD. Peggy delighted in her children and grandchildren, serving as Brownie Scout leader, Den Mother and cafeteria manager at St. John High School and later attended baseball, soccer and lacrosse games. Mrs. Murphy was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church and attended St. John in Westminster where she volunteered for many years. Surviving Peggy are daughters Mary M. Ruhlman (Henry) of Manchester and Mary E. "Betsy" Murphy of Finksburg, son David A. Murphy (Kim) of Finksburg, 10 grandchildren: Matt, Mike and Dan Ruhlman; Kyle and Krissy Murphy; Amber Stevens, Megan, Joe, Austin and Briana Murphy, 9 great-grandchildren and brother Rev. Joseph L. Clark of Virginia Beach, VA, and nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Larry (1976), son Mark (2008), great-grandson Wesley (2012) and brother James E. Clark (2001). The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster with Father Christopher de Leon as celebrant. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Taneytown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
