Mary Ellen (Roland) Crane, age 89, passed peacefully to her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2016 in Naples, FL with her husband of 65 years, Charles J. Crane, faithfully by her side. Mary Ellen was born in Rochester, NY in 1927. She was one of nine siblings and is survived by brother Jim and sister Clare. Mary Ellen was blessed with 5 children, predeceased by daughter Theresa Crane, survived by Joseph (Bernadette) Crane, Thomas (Lynn) Crane, Kevin (Kelly) Crane, and Susan (Jeff) Kemp. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Joseph, John, Mallory, Steven, Brian and Daniel, and 2 great-granddaughters, Scarlett Theresa and Jenna Roland. Mary Ellen was a distinguished graduate of Nazareth High School in Rochester NY. She was very proud of the years she spent raising her family and her professional career at the National Bureau of Standards. She was also an active member in her church choir, community bridge clubs and scrabble socials. Mary Ellen adored her life-long friendships from her hometown of Rochester, NY, Matawan, NJ, Gaithersburg, MD, Lake Monticello, VA, Carroll Vista in Taneytown, MD and Naples, FL. Mary Ellen's funeral service will be held on September 10th, 2016, 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church on 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, Maryland. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Avow Foundation of Naples, FL. The Avow Foundation is a nonprofit foundation that specializes in hospice care.
