Mary Elizabeth Holmes, 70, of Sykesville, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born July 25, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Paul Charles and Florence Krenek Hushek. She was the wife of Robert M. Holmes, her husband of 49 years.

She had been a credit correspondent with the state of Maryland for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg and volunteered at Transitions Health Care in Sykesville.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons and daughters-in-law Jeffery and Amanda Holmes, of Westminster, and David and Amy Holmes, of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Timothy Brecker, of Eldersburg; brothers Thomas Hushek, of Chicago, Illinois, and Paul Joseph Hushek, of Scottsdale, Arizona; sisters Polly Ross, of Huntington Beach, California, and Cathy Klink, of Wauwautosa, Wisconsin; and grandchildren Matthew, Brandon, Tanner and Madison Holmes, and Abby and Emily Brecker.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice'a Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
