Mary Ellen Lear (nee Sanders), age 90, of Eldersburg, died peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at her home. Mary was born September 28, 1924 in Crellin, MD, daughter of the late Ray Sanders and the late Dorothy Fries Sanders. She was the dedicated wife of the late John Birl Lear. She was a "blue ribbon homemaker" and an active member of Elders Baptist Church in Eldersburg for the past 40 years, serving her Lord with numerous community/church projects. She was especially proud of being one of the "senior" members of the KEENAGERS (55+ group). Surviving are her loving children: son, Harold (Hal) Lear & wife Sylvia of Centennial Colorado; daughter Sharon Jones & husband Tom of Eldersburg; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry Sanders and wife Norma of Clarksburg, WV, sister, Janet Sanders Kaiser of Walkersville, MD, sister, Norma Jean Weekley and husband O.P. of Williamstown WV. Mary also had many nephews, nieces, cousins and she had a special fondness for Patt & Dwight Meredith of Arvada, CO. She was predeceased by brothers, Ray, Carlton & wife Alberta; Herbert & wife Francis, Harold & wife Patty, and sister Glendine (Glennie). Friends may visit family at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd., Sykesville, MD (beside South Carroll High School), on Thursday, August 13 from 4 - 7 PM. Funeral service will be held at Elders Baptist Church, 1216 Liberty Rd., Eldersburg, on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jim Edmonson officiating. Private graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Carroll Home Hospice & Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
