Mary R. Buchman, 78, of Westminster, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Aug. 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Sarah E. Algire Shaffer. She was the wife of Francis W. Buchman, her husband of 62 years.

She had been a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, church, gospel music and traveling.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Sharon D. Wible, of Gettysburg, Pa.; sons Gary F. Buchman, of Littlestown, Pa., and Mark W. Buchman, of Westminster; sisters Frances Mahanna, of Westminster, Patricia Bitondo, of Washington, D.C., and Jayne Nichols, of Hanover, Pa., Deborah Robertson, of New Windsor, Edith Calhoun, of Upperco, and Regina Phillips, of Hampstead; brothers Wayne Shaffer, of Hampstead, and Chester Shaffer, of Lineboro; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a brother, Herbert Shaffer.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. David LeBlanc, of Living Hope Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
