Mary Reiter Coakley, 70, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Born Jan. 14, 1943, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. Reiter Jr. and Louise Y. Reiter. She was the wife of John A. Coakley Sr., her husband of 47 years.

She was a homemaker and devout mother who enjoyed her life with her family. She was active in both St. John Catholic Church in Westminster and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown. She spent many years volunteering for non-profit organizations, including Mission of Mercy, the Literacy Council of Carroll County, and Westminster Fallfest. She also liked spending time in Adoration Chapel at St. John. She was an avid fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children John Coakley Jr., Louise Coakley, Mary Clare Coakley Hoerl, and Sarah Coakley Kawa; a brother, Charles L. Reiter III; and grandchildren Emily, Carly and Anna Coakley, Ricky, Charlie, Sam and Dewey Hoerl, and Regan and Paige Kawa.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Monsignor Martin Feild, of St. Joseph Catholic Church, assisted by the Rev. Gerard Steffener. Interment will follow in Druid Ridge Cemetery in Pikesville.
