Mary Ruth Mason, 95, of Westminster, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Born Sept. 11, 1918, in Millersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Irwin Warfel and Amy Prowell Warfel. She was the wife of Lloyd G. Mason, who died in 1967 due to an automobile accident.

She was a graduate of Millersburg High School and Central Pennsylvania Business College. She was then employed with the state government of Pennsylvania and for several years with the federal government in Harrisburg, Pa., and Philadelphia, Pa. She then furthered her education by graduating from the Lutheran Deaconess School in Baltimore, after completing the course for Parish Workers in the Lutheran Church. She served Lutheran congregations in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Wilmington, Del. In 1980, she moved to Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. She was a member of the Village Singers since its inception and was co-chairman of the religious life committee. She also served on Spiritual Life, Residents Association and the Hospitality Committee at the Village. She spent many hours volunteering at the Health Care Center. As a member of Grace Lutheran Church, she served on the Evangelism Committee and was a Sunshine Visitor to shut-ins.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Lloyd Paul Mason Sr. and Kathy, of Union Bridge; grandchildren Laurie, Katie and Nicholas Mason, all of Union Bridge, and Paul Mason Jr., of Hanover, Pa.; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Warfel; and an infant sister.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Carroll Lutheran Village Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with the Revs. Jimmie Schwartz and Martha Clementson officiating. Inurnment will be held at noon Saturday at Grace Lawn Memorial Park in New Castle, Del.
