Mary Elizabeth Strine, age 93, formerly of New Windsor, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Lorien of Taneytown, following an extended illness. Born July 10, 1922 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel D. and Hattie Young Bare. She was the wife of former New Windsor Postmaster, Raymond C. Strine, who predeceased her in 1999. During World War II Mary worked at Congoleum in a rocket shop. She was an active member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren, where she participated in the Women's Fellowship, sang in the choir and with her husband served as a deaconess and deacon. Mrs. Strine was an avid duckpin bowler and sports fan. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, volunteering in the community, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Sharon Strine and Bruce Strine, all of Westminster, and Drew and Penny Strine of New Windsor; former daughter-in-law, Janet Strine of Hanover, PA; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Bare and wife, Ruth; and sisters-in-law, Janet and Josephine Bare. She was predeceased by four sisters, Margaret Garner, Kathryn Garst, Mildred Beard and Ruth Shank; and six brothers, Charles, David, Paul, John, Harold and Roger Bare. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor on Thursday, October 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 23 at 11 a.m. Rev. Paul N. Leatherman Jr., her pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
