Matthew H. Ruppalt, 96, of Westminster, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home. Born on November 25, 1920 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Henry J. and Elizabeth C. Telejohnn Ruppalt. Matthew was married on March 12, 1939 for 73 years to his late wife Irene Louise Mattison Ruppalt who predeceased him in August 2012. Matthew was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and served during World War II. He was a master mechanic giving mechanical advice until his passing. He retired in 1985 from Leaseway Transportation Corporation, where he was employed as the East Coast Regional Director of Maintenance. Matthew enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sleigh riding. He liked to make wine and take trips to casinos. Most of all he enjoyed keeping in touch with his friends and family. Surviving Matthew are children Janet McMullen of Westminster, Matthew Ruppalt, Jr. and wife Bernice of Mt. Airy, Theresa Hylock and husband Kenneth of Westminster, Beverly Polites and husband Christopher of Westminster; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great- grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Monday, January 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ann Durboraw officiating. Interment will be held in Lakeview Memorial Park.
