Matthew Maurice Butcher, 44, of Baltimore, passed away on Sunday, September, 25, 2016 at his home. Born on December 16, 1971, in Baltimore and was the son of Jimmy R. Butcher and step-son of Linda C. Butcher of Westminster, and son of Donna L. Baldwin of Florida. Matthew was a graduate of North Carroll High School, class of 1990 and a graduate of Western Maryland College, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He was employed for Cisco where he worked as a network engineer. Matthew was a Veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard and was a Bronze Star Recipient. He was a life-long traveler of the world. He was a super fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Wounded Warrior. Surviving him in addition to his parents are brothers John R. Butcher of Perry Hall and Jacob R. Butcher of Mt. Airy. He was the beloved uncle of Victoria J. Butcher of Mt. Airy; step-brother of Martin P. Hill and Jennifer Bubczyk. 2 nephews and 4 nieces all of Lineboro. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the start of the service. Deacon Charles Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Matthew's private inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
