Mayo James "Jim" Lafiner, Jr., age 59, of Sykesville passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016, at home. Born October 12, 1956, in Carroll County, MD he was the son of the late Mayo James Lafiner, Sr. and Naomi Jeannine Sleager Lafiner. He was the loving husband of Mary Jean Ault Lafiner. Jim retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration after 30 years of service. He was currently working as a tractor and trailer driver for Harvest RGI. Jim had many hobbies which included John Deere tractors, Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking in his wood shop, driving tractor and trailers and especially his dogs. Surviving in addition to his wife are mother-in-law, Marcia Dean Ault of Sykesville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debra and Kent Cavey of Arbutus; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ellsworth Marley Ault, III and Florence Ault of Hampstead; aunt, Patricia Massey of Hampstead; uncle, William "Bill" Lafiner of NH and nieces, Heather Arthur and Ashley Condas and their families. He was predeceased by his sister, Jeannine "Nina" Lafiner who died in 2015; brother-in-law, Bud Burkhart and sister-in-law, Kimberly Dean Matthews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10am. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Waddell. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.
