Melvin Arthur Walker, 74, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at home.

Born Feb. 14, 1940, in Randallstown, he was the son of the late Melvin Arthur and Mildred Elaine Clagett Walker. He was the husband of Linda Marie Ellis Walker, his wife of 54 years.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a former member of the Reese Volunteer Fire Company.

He was a member of Lake Marburg Baptist Church. He drove Figure 8 race cars, enjoyed camping and most of all spending time with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Joanne and Jerry Cowan, of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, Elaine and Michael Caler, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Judy and Ronnie Yarger, of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania; siblings Geraldine Ruth, of York, Pennsylvania, Linda Riley, of Randallstown, and Carroll and Jimmy Clagett, both of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother; and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Quay F. Reiser Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Sykesville.
