Melvin LeRoy "Lee" Dell, 80, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at the Dove House. Born June 27, 1934 in Bethel Heights, he was the son of the late Russell A. Dell and Ethel Knight Dell. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley K. Dell. Before retiring, he worked for 3M for 34 years. He graduated from Westminster High School in 1952 and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Church of the Open Door and Super Sixties, life-member of the VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467. Besides his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey B. and Kathryn Dell of Hanover, Pa., niece Dorothy Jane Freeman of Westminster, one sister Betty Mae Mann of Westminster, two granddaughters Jennifer and Kristin Dell of Hanover, Pa. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Ottis, Russell and Cleveland J. "Dempsey" Dell and a sister Edna Blizzard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, MD 21157, with Rev. Dr. John Campbell and Rev. Dr. Rick Holbrook co-offiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Open Door or Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
