Melvin Harry "Mel" Davis, Jr, 70, of Westminster passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born Sept 20, 1945 in Hanover, Pa. He was the son of the late Melvin Harry Davis, Sr and Carrie Irene (Sauble) Davis. He was the husband of Nancy C. Davis who he married on July 30, 1994. Mel was a 1963 graduate of Westminster High School. He worked as a Correctional Officer for Carroll County Sheriff's Department starting in July 1994 and retired in June 2008. He also previously retired from Black and Decker where he was employed for 25 years in quality control. He was a member and Adjutant of Sons of the American Legion Carroll Post 31, member of the Legion Riders, social member of VFW Molleville Farm Post 467, and the Fraternal Order Eagles Aerie 2226. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan, enjoyed camping, NASCAR and riding his Harley Davidson. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children and their spouses, Wanda and Larry Price of Littlestown, PA, Melinda and Tony Stockslager of Westminster, stepchildren and their spouses Douglas Abbott of Westminster, Karen and Dale Brown of New Windsor, and Bruce and Joyce Abbott of Eldersburg. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Fleming. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Glen Willet officiating. Interment will be private at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Md. 21157, or the , 8219 Town Center Dr., Baltimore, MD 21236 or the American Legion Carroll Post 31, 2 Sycamore St., Westminster, MD 21157.
