Mr. Melvin Luther Fritz, 95, formerly of Uniontown, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Lorien of Taneytown. Born July 14, 1919 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Oscar Phay and Annie Shuey Fritz. He was the husband of Dorothy E. Hoch Fritz, who predeceased him in 2013. Mr. Fritz was a graduate of New Windsor High School and barber school in Baltimore. He was a master barber, working first with Heagy's Barber Shop, then owned and operated Mel's Barber Shop in Westminster, and later barbered out of his home, retiring in May of 2011. He was a member of Uniontown Bible Church. Mel was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed small game hunting. Surviving are a sister, Pauline Boone of Westminster; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, O. Preston Fritz, Sterling Fritz, Earle Fritz Sr.; and sister, Katherine Feeser. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Church of God Cemetery, Uniontown. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Uniontown Bible Church, 4272 Watson Lane, Union Bridge, MD 21791. Arrangements are by Hartzler Funeral Home, New Windsor.
