Merle Allen "Butch" Barnes, 59 of Artemas, PA, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at home. Born on April 9, 1955 in Cumberland, he was the son of Jane Emily (Smith) Barnes and the late Merle Glenn Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his special nephew Matthew True. Butch was a member of the Carpenter's Local 1024, the Moose, and a Mason. He was an avid hunter, and also enjoyed reloading ammunition. Above all, Butch was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be sadly missed. Surviving are his wife Linda Barnes; his children Jason Barnes and wife Elizabeth, Kelly Drazdys and fiance Ian Barry, Brandi Caudill, Ted Sanders and wife Christy; grandchildren Claudia, Madison, Emileigh, Austin, Zachary, and Owen; his brothers Victor Barnes and wife Winnie, and Patrick Barnes and wife Cindy; his sister Beverly True and husband Kelly; nieces and nephews Lauren, Brian, Steven, Taylor and Emilee, and great niece Christine. As per Butch's request, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
