Merriam Agnes Markland, 90, of Finksburg, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, of respiratory failure, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born March 2, 1922, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Wilder M. and Mary C. Holt DeNeane. She was the wife of Jack Markland, her husband of 67 years, who died Nov. 14, 2009.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, and was a member and Past Grand Region of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Surviving are daughters Merriam F. Shackett and companion Dave Foster, of Pennsylvania, Christina Parker, of Finksburg, Clarice Weimer and husband Tom, of Grantsville, and Adele Stokes and husband Vic, of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Edwin DeNeane; and sons-in-law Bill Parker and Jack Saulpaw.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.
